BARONESS SUSAN GREENFIELD

‘Committees are the antithesis of creativity’ says Baroness Susan Greenfield.

Using her knowledge of the brain, she argues that using one person as a sounding board on which to evaluate ideas is much more productive than spending time listening to views from a larger group. She goes on to argue that many of the prompts that we rely on so much these days to spark ideas (computers, the internet) are mitigating against creativity. Despite her deeply scientific credentials, Baroness Greenfield is most inspired by a plain piece of white paper or an empty desk. And of course she’s just lucky in that her desk is Faraday’s original.
