John Timpson: Background

John Timpson is Chairman of Timpson, the national chain of shoe repair and key-cutting stores with £100 million annual sales. The company was named the sixth best to work for in the UK in 2003 (The Sunday Times).

He has had a colourful and often hard-fought business career.He saw his father being forced out of the family business, negotiated a management buy-out from Hanson, and has twice mortgaged his house to finance career-changing deals.

John is the author of a string of books providing business and management advice to entrepreneurs and business-owners, and is a columnist for Real Business magazine.
